Introducing...

NagVis is a visualization addon for the well known network managment system Nagios.

NagVis can be used to visualize Nagios Data, e.g. to display IT processes like a mail system or a network infrastructure.

Maps should permit embedding data from external sources (Graphite)

Gadget provide livedata from performance data in Nagios/Shinken/Icinga.

What about getting some of this data and presenting it from other http sources.

Ex. Graphite provides a URL API. The object/gadget does an HTTP get. Gets back data in raw formatted data csv, json, pickle or as an Image that can be superimposed on the Nagvis map.

Why? Graphite, Splunk and other databases and analysis systems can provide extractions of data through REST or RESTlike APIs. They also provide processed data, that is easy to integrate.

Use case:

Show a graph to displays the Top N % of CPU use of the last 15 minutes in a multi-server Cluster. Graphite does this easily. A simple URL to plug in to Nagvis.

Use case:

Show an HTML table containing the server names that on average over the last 30 minutes have not seen more than 500 transactions processed.

Nagvis provides a great canvas to include Static graphical data, dynamica event data, gadgets. It should also permit any other data to be embedded and graphed.

Thank you.

How the supporting system works

You as a supporter of a feature specify one or several things you like to give to the solver for getting the feature request solved. It can be for example a bunch of coins but some developers migth also be happy about some beer donations ;-).

Posting your donation to a feature is seen as a willigness to support this feature. It is no binding offer. Once the feature gets targeted to be solved, we will contact you with more details.

This is already possible. Gadgets can do everything you want. They do not have use the performance data. They could instead query external sources like databases or similar and display them as graphic or since 1.6x as HTML code.
